eisenhower building at night…

The Eisenhower Executive Office Building is located next to the West Wing, and houses a majority of offices for White House staff in Washington DC. Originally built for the State, War and Navy Departments between 1871 and 1888, the EEOB is an impressive building that commands a unique position in both the american national history and architectural heritage.

Designed by Supervising Architect of the Treasury Alfred Mullett, the granite, slate and cast iron exterior makes the EEOB one of America’s best examples of the French Second Empire style of architecture. It took 17 years for Mullett’s masterpiece to finally be completed.

The building continues to house various agencies that compose the President’s Executive Office, such as the Office of the Vice President, the Office of Management and Budget, and the National Security Council. However, its predominant purpose is that of the Vice President’s Ceremonial Office, used mainly for special meetings and press conferences.

singapore memories…

the singapore flyer while waiting for a bus

Standing at stunning 165m, the Flyer is the height of a 42-storey building – that’s some 30 metres taller than the famed London Eye.  It’s worth 240 million dollars.  We didn’t have the time to ride it though…

the food that we ate during our last night of stay

you’ve never been to singapore if you haven’t tried their chili crab.  that was the best chili crab i’ve ever tasted… :)

from another angle…

The Washington Monument’s tall, slender obelisk towers above the Mall in the nation’s capitol, dominating the skyline. A grateful public constructed it in the nineteenth century to commemorate George Washington.

this is my share for this week’s theme balingkinitan (slender) for litratong pinoy.
