feast of the black nazarene 2009…

one of the things i enjoy shooting are festivals, there are so many things to shoot.  here are some of the images of the celebration that took place yesterday…

“the sea of devotees”

i think this feast draws the most number of people in a single event, but i could be wrong, but then again look at the crowd.  And these are just people who are waiting for the arrival of the nazarene, the greater number of people are not included here, they are with the image of the nazarene that is in procession at the perimeter of quiapo.

.

“barefooted”

one of the bizarre trademark of this feast is that it’s devotees walk barefooted.  there are those coming from near province who walk barefoot going to the church in quiapo.

.

“image”

different replicas and images of the black nazarene are being parade also, and devotees throw their hankees on the image perceiving that those hankees that have been wiped at the image will have healing properties.

.

“coverage”

different networks covers one of the biggest event in the philippines, and it’s being dipslayed on the big screen in the front of the church courtesy of mercury drug.

.

“the black nazarene”

this is just a replica of the black nazarene, at the background is one of the bell tower of the church.
